Born and raised in Washington D.C., Marilyn Niccole spent her childhood inside the historic Ford's Theatre — the very stage where President Abraham Lincoln was assassinated in 1865. Her mother, a pioneering figure in the theatre's wardrobe department, brought Marilyn into that world from infancy. By her early teens she was already on payroll, learning the exacting craft of theatrical hair and costume construction from the ground up.

That foundation — built on precision, artistry, and an uncompromising standard for realism — became the blueprint for everything High Definition Hair would eventually become.

In June 2004, Marilyn Niccole founded High Definition Hair® in Washington D.C. with a singular mission: to bring the same level of custom wig construction found exclusively in film and theatre to the general public. Over the next two decades she developed a patent-pending cap construction that eliminated the need for glue, tape, gel, adhesives, or bangs to conceal unnatural hairlines — innovations that have since redefined what a custom wig can be.
